Why We’re Bringing Chews and News Back to Life

No SEO? No Strategy? No Problem.

If I had to give myself advice as a digital marketing professional, I would tell myself I’ve done this all entirely the wrong way.

You have no SEO. What do you mean you’re starting from scratch?

You’ve started and stopped this Instagram account a dozen times over the last few years. What’s changed this time?

You’ve created two other accounts in the time that you’ve left Chews and News idling. Why should readers take this seriously?

And so on, and so forth.

What’s Changed Since the Last Time

In my heart, I believe this time will be different.

I feel a need to sit down and write that I haven’t felt since I began this whole journey the first time around, when I typed furiously for hours at a little coffee shop near my apartment in Milwaukee after work one day.

Finding Inspiration in My New Hometown

My husband, Isaac, and I find ourselves spending more and more time talking to small restaurant owners in my beautiful new home of Augusta, wondering what people would think of their stories, and hoping we can help them grow.

Food, Stories, and Why They Matter

From Our Kitchen to Yours

I also find myself pouring through cookbooks in my own kitchen, desperate to share what I’m eating with family, friends and anyone who’s listening.

I feel a sense of calm when an aroma rises up from my pan, a sense of satisfaction when I see Isaac’s eyes light up as he tries his first bite, and true joy when I get a text back from a friend who stopped by a local spot on my recommendation.

Why Local Voices Deserve a Bigger Platform

Our new home is known around the world for a beautiful and momentous week in April, but we firmly believe it should be on the map year-round. That won’t happen unless passionate people with a voice share their why.

And that’s where a reinvented Chews and News comes in.

The People Who Changed My Perspective

When we moved to Augusta for work, Isaac and I, of course, had no idea what to expect. We met lifers. We met newcomers like ourselves. We heard the phrases like “Disgusta,” and we met the people doing the work to make that a relic of the past. They are building the table, pulling up chairs, and inviting all of us to join.

Now, we’re ready to grab a plate and help tell the stories of Augusta alongside them.
